This is a question I get asked a lot.

But, there is more to this question that meets the eye

How to work this out

Depending on your business model there can be many elements of sales that need to be taken into consideration, such as finding new clients and retaining existing ones.

It can be easy to want to forge ahead and look for new customers but spending time to look after the ones you already have pays real dividends.

So by breaking down each required element of the sales process you can then analyse how much time you need to focus on each area of selling.

Sales firstly needs breaking down into various areas and then from here you can work out how much time you need to put into sales.

Sales consists of a few areas, such as…

✅Researching – finding your ideal clients and what they need

✅Preparing – your pitch, written or verbal

✅Contacting – cold prospects

✅Ongoing – marketing

✅Following up – on all contact that has been made

✅Selling – Contacting warm prospects and getting them to convert fully

✅Onboarding – new clients

✅Servicing – Existing clients

✅Developing – relationships to get referrals and testimonials

✅Revisiting – ex clients

So before you think about how much time you want to spend selling have a look at some of the steps involved in this process then work out how much time you need to put into each area of selling, perhaps allocate some time to each area weekly to ensure you cover them all.
